Our Client
Amrize Canada Inc. delivering concrete and paving work across Saskatchewan. Based in Saskatoon, the construction team works on municipal roadwork, commercial developments, and infrastructure projects across the region.
The work is carried out by experienced crews who understand the demands of construction in the field. Projects require careful coordination between crews, equipment, and schedules, along with close collaboration between superintendents, forepersons, project managers, and engineers to keep work progressing safely and according to plan.
With construction activity continuing to grow in the Saskatoon area, the division is strengthening its field leadership team. The Concrete Superintendent will oversee work on active sites, support crews, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with design and specification.
The Opportunity
Concrete construction projects move quickly and require strong leadership in the field to keep crews, equipment, and schedules aligned. As the Concrete Superintendent, you will oversee field operations across paving and construction projects in the Saskatoon area, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and according to design and specification.
This is a highly visible role in the field. You will work directly with crews, forepersons, project managers, and partners to coordinate daily operations, resolve challenges on site, and keep projects progressing according to plan. Strong organization, clear communication, and sound decision-making are essential to keep work progressing across active job sites.
Key Responsibilities
As the Concrete Superintendent, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:
1. Field Operations & Project Execution
- Oversee day-to-day field operations across paving and construction projects.
- Ensure work is completed according to project specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
- Monitor project performance and maintain visibility into progress, productivity, and execution in the field.
- Coordinate crews, equipment, and site resources to maintain productivity and project momentum.
- Support crews by providing direction and resolving operational challenges as they arise.
2. Health, Safety, and Environmental Leadership
- Promote and reinforce a strong culture of safety across all job sites.
- Ensure crews follow established health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Verify that employees receive proper orientation and training related to environmental responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations.
3. Project & Financial Oversight
- Monitor project performance to ensure work remains aligned with project budgets, schedules, and job cost expectations.
- Review field-level financial documentation including quantity sheets and monthly progress reports.
- Track job performance and project outcomes from start to completion.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and strengthen project performance.
4. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Lead and support field teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management in coordination with HR.
- Maintain effective working relationships with owners, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
- Maintain a visible presence on job sites and build strong working relationships with crews and field staff.
- Collaborate with internal departments involved in project delivery.
- Support workforce development and succession planning within the operations team.
Qualifications
As the Concrete Superintendent, you will possess the following qualities:
The Essentials (Hard Skills):
- Minimum 8 years of experience in road construction, concrete, or heavy civil construction, with progressive responsibility in field operations.
- Post-secondary education from a technical institute, construction program, or engineering-related is considered an asset. However, equivalent field experience in construction operations will also be considered.
- 5+ years of leadership experience supervising crews, forepersons, or site teams.
- Strong working knowledge of paving and concrete construction practices, including materials, equipment, and site processes.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and project specifications.
- Experience monitoring project performance, tracking progress, and coordinating daily field operations while maintaining alignment with project schedules and budgets.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, job costing, and field reporting processes.
- Experience working with project tools such as MS Project, Build2Win, SAP, or similar construction management systems is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
